Hi everyone
I’m new to the forum and new to collecting IH’s. Been collecting wheaties for about a yr now
I got a question: Is there any place to find out more about the longacres doubling’s? Can’t seem to find a lot of discussion on the forum about it. What I don’t understand is: I have an 1881 with strong doubling all over the UNITED STATES, very little around AMERICA. I understand that this is normal for these years but what I can’t figure out is why are the dentils evening spaced and clean on the AMERICA side but looks like dentils spaced in between the dentils on the UNITED STATES side? From what I have read, longacres doubling is only on the letters. I don’t have a great camera set-up but I think these will show you what I’m talking about. Thanks, Don

Rule of thumb....Die doubling is only in one direction, longacre doubling is in both directions....

| I understand doubling, take a look at the denticles? the side that is showing a strong longacres doubling is showing what looks like double denticles. The side that doesn't show longacres doublings is showing only single denticles. This is the confusing part. thanks |
