5th

This is my fifth letter as president.

It has been a very busy winter for all of us, and let me start by saying I hope all of you have a safe and rewarding 2001. I have an important announcement to make and ask that all of you take a moment to read this. Since we are a democratic organization, we have bi-annual elections and 2001 is an election year. Many of you may already be aware of this since I made an announcement in your renewal. Others, such as Life Members, may not. Regardless, this notice serves as a Last Call for anyone interested in running for office. I have included available offices and a brief description of their roles within the Club.

President.
As leader of the Club, the President directs the Club in attainment of the Club’s “Mission Statement”.

Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the President to oversee that all administrative functions are carried out properly. This includes enforcement of the bylaws, as well as secretarial duties, treasury responsibilities, and membership.

Vice President.
The Vice-President assists the President in his duties, and acts as replacement when the President is not able to be present or is incapacitated.

Secretary.
Secretary of the Club has the below responsibilities:
? He or designate records minutes of Club meetings, typically this is the FUN Show in January and the ANA in August of each year.
? Warehouses all past issues of the “Ledger”, the Club’s journal. This includes mailing the journal to new members and those ordering back issues.
? Coordinates brochure manufacturing, including Club applications.
? Mails out all “Article of the Year” ballots.
? Insures all election ballots are sent out.

Treasurer.
The Treasurer of the Club is entrusted with the financial assets of the Club, and includes the following duties:
? Typing and mailing of all renewal notices.
? Collection and depositing of all dues.
? Maintaining up-to-date database (in Excel) of all current memberships.
? Interfacing with the publisher this database for accurate mailings.
? Invoicing all advertising Subscribers.
? Collection and depositing of all ad revenues.

Please contact me prior to the Summer Ledger issue. This issue will contain voting ballots for the 2002 officer slate.

In other news, please keep fellow member John Smith in your prayers as he undergoes recovery from lymph node surgery on March 16th. Also keen-eyed Indian cent cherrypicker Stan Kubacki of Michigan is in very ill health battling pancreatic cancer. On the bright side I talked to Jerry Wysong and he is doing well after his heart attack of last fall. The Fly-In Club’s next meeting will be at this year’s ANA in Atlanta. A tentative time will be Friday, August 10th at 1:30 p.m. Please plan to attend, we would love to see you.
